Coming Sunday, 13th of February 2022, there will be no supervised session.

The Bluff Swimming Club is holding a regional swimming event, thus we ask EVERYONE to please kindly respect that ๐Ÿ˜.

This includes MEMBERS ๐Ÿคช!

Thank you!

๐Ÿ„ SCHOOL TERM OPENING HOURS ARE BACK ON ๐Ÿ˜Ž

With our lovely holidays finished, we are back to "regular" hours - if there is such a thing ๐Ÿ˜‚.

This means that you can now access the pool as a non-member during our SUPERVISED HOURS:

Mo - Fri 9 - 11 AM
Thu & Fri 3:30 - 5:30 PM
Sat & Sun 1 - 4 PM

For our MEMBERS ๐Ÿคฉ, please check current NO ACCESS exceptions!

Be kind to our schools and the club, they are just here to help everyone swim better!

๐Ÿ˜‘FIRST SCORNINGโ˜น๏ธ

It was going to happen at some point, so here we go:

โš ๏ธTHESE BENCHES ARE NOT TO BE MOVEDโš ๏ธ

Now, besides the obvious reasons (because of course I know that you were jumping off them ๐Ÿ˜ค), here is a bit of other logic for you:

These things are quite rusty (with future funding we want to upgrade them), actually, let me make it crystal clear โœจ - they are stupendously rusty. I know it does not look that way, but when you look under them you will see.

When you are moving them around a quarter around the pool, there is rust coming of it everywhere. Yes, we clean the floor regularly, but there is only so much we can do about rust that gets into your feet and the water ๐Ÿค.

So, of course I know who it was, of course your children know that this is not supposed to be done, and of course you will never do that again ๐Ÿ˜Ž.

Please consider this your first and last warning.

Great! Thank you ๐Ÿ˜€!

P.S. When doing such shenanigans, at least utilise some grey matter please and do not put them in front of an emergency exit ๐Ÿคฆ

Bluff Pool Under ๐ŸšฆRED๐Ÿšฆ

As before ๐Ÿ˜› (I mean, I would love to see 100 people in the pool, but that ain't gonna happen in the near future).

Please follow these guidelines when you are visiting the pool:
1. Sign in
2. Wear a mask (outside the water)
3. Keep your distance (do not cuddle ๐Ÿถ)
4. Keep your hands clean & sanitised

Let us try thinking about others first and reducing the risk of getting sick overall.

Thank you ๐Ÿคฉ!

๐ŸงClarification on Pool Closure ๐Ÿ™„

๐Ÿ™ƒ Update โ˜€:
We will be open again tomorrow (Tuesday 18/01/2022) as planned.
Bisulphate in the water and pH stabilising today ๐Ÿคฉ.
Sorry again to whoever missed their swims ๐Ÿ˜ฉ!

We will be closed for this:

โš ๏ธSUNDAY (16/01/2022)
and
MONDAY (17/01/2022)โš ๏ธ

For those for you who like pointing fingers: It is not really anyone's fault. ๐Ÿ˜›

For those who like some explanations, and as I like transparency:

The pH in the pool has risen a bit too high and currently we are out of bisulphate that we use to control that. The pH fluctuates all the time and this is how we deal with it. The pH needs to be controlled and within certain limits so it is not dangerous to our health.

Unfortunately, with lots of swimmers (WHICH IS GREAT ๐Ÿคฉ!), it is a bit less predictable that when it was before the holidays. We ran out of bisulphate, although I have been trying all last week to get some.

Why?
None at our supplier.

As you know, supply issues are everywhere and this stuff does not come from NZ.

Thus, we extended it as long as possible, and unfortunately today it went out of limits ๐Ÿ˜ฉ. Luckily our trusted pool supervisor Varnya Jane Delos Reyes made the perfect call to close today.

So, gotta wait till Monday to hopefully get our hands on some ๐Ÿ˜. put in the water ๐Ÿ˜ท, and wait ~6 hours to see if we need to put it in more.

This is why I hope to open the pool on Tuesday.

I am really sorry for all of you who wanted to swim today, and also in the next days.

Try to get out and enjoy the sunshine โ˜€๏ธ instead, look out for when we are open again (fingers crossed for Tuesday), and then come back for your splashes ๐Ÿ™ƒ!
Have a great weekend!

P.S. For future-proofing the pool, we are about to get a new system that controls (amongst others) pH more efficiently and needs a bit less "human" help for that. Even though, even that system relies on an external supply of something to control the pH. Nothing is perfect, but it will enable us to react to these situations faster in the future!

CLOSED THURSDAY 09/12/2021

Kia ora koutou!

Unfortunately, we have to be CLOSED โŒ this THURSDAY ( 09/12/2021 ).

This is due to a water leak in our filter tank, which requires us to pretty much to STOP everything that is related to water flow, heating, as well as chlorine system.

We hope to get it resolved quickly within that 1 day period! ๐Ÿ˜Ž

๐ŸŠ ATTENTION all swimmers ! ๐Ÿ„

The temperature is back to where it was and it is as warm as it has been!

Thanks to Aron from Bluff Electrical we were able to resolve the issue already on Sunday and it only took a couple of days to get back to this warm standard that want for our Bluff Pool โ˜€๏ธ!

Remember, you can still get our AMAZINGLY HIGH VALUE LOW COST memberships ๐Ÿ™ƒ.

Just a short message on FB or an email to bluffpool@gmail.com !

Plus, be on the look for an announcement around the new traffic light system and how we will be dealing this from here on now ๐Ÿ“ข

Temporarily CLOSED for Sunday 28/11/2021

โš ๏ธMorena all ๐Ÿ™‚

Unfortunately, the pool temperature has dropped significantly over night.

I am not sure if this will be fixed today as it is obviously Sunday. I will keep you updated (as well as on our website) if we open again today.

Members still theoretically could open the door to the pool as I need to leave it accessible for the electrician.

โš ๏ธBUT: PLEASE DO NOT GO FOR THE SWIM TODAY!โš ๏ธ

Please be respectful of this!

Yes, there is a chance that I am overreacting, but I prefer being ๐Ÿ’ฏ% the heating is working as intended before getting people into the pool today.

Thank you, and aku mihi,

Introducing: Our Honesty VAULT!

Introducing our "honesty VAULT"๐Ÿ’ฃ!

Huge thank you to Andrew and his team from Bluff Engineering and Welding ( http://bew.co.nz/ ) for this magnificent beast ๐Ÿ‘.

This is for the visitors that our members bring along for a splash. Technically it is $3 for children and $5 for adults, but anything is appreciated.

Yet, any small contribution is welcome and appreciated ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜!

Power outage issues 31/10/21

Kia ora koutou!

Due to a power outage in the middle of the night we had some issues this morning at the pool:

- Access tag system did not work
- Chlorine levels were to low to be open (due to pump issues)

If you tried swimming this morning as a member, I am sorry that this was not possible.

The issues have been resolved now and you are all good to visit!

Feel free also to visit today as a non-member during our supervised hours from 1 to 4 pm!

Aku mihi,
Marcin

Opening Week

Kia ora koutou!

I hope all of you are enjoying the sunny long weekend !
While many of you are signing up for the membership inductions (which is great!), I also want to let you know that next week is:

๐Ÿ”ฅ๐ŸPOOL OPENING WEEK! ๐Ÿ’ช๐ŸŠ

This means:
We are open Tuesday to Friday 9 to 11 AM in the morning, as well as Thursday and Friday 3:30 to 5:30 PM.

On the weekend you will be able to enjoy the pool from 1 to 4 PM!

Entry for the whole week during these supervised sessions is

๐Ÿ†“FREE ๐Ÿ†“

Please be aware of our supervision rules that require ALL CHILDREN UNDER 5 to be supervised actively at all times within arms distance!

Active supervision means:
Watching your child at all times & able to provide immediate assistance.

For CHILDREN UNDER 8 years there needs to be active supervision at all times within the pool area. Don't stream your favorite show on your phone when supervising your children!

Active supervision means:
Watching your child at all times & able to provide immediate assistance.

CHILDREN 8 to 18 can attend the pool by themselves during supervised hours.

Please also remember that we are doing our membership sign ups and inductions from Tuesday as well!

Delays And Inductions

Tฤ“nฤ koutou i tฤ“nei ahiahi !

As I like being transparent when it comes to organisational endeavors, here some updates:

Schools have started this week!

That is big positive for me as I think our children need to get as much water time as possible.

Unfortunately, no one else could come and swim this week. I am as displeased with this as you are. This came down to some back and forth with the quality pools accreditation process that simply did not finish yet.

On the good side, from next week Tuesday (26th October 2021) you can come in to go through our short induction process and sign up for memberships.

Thus, please use the message button here on FB or send us an email to:

bluffpool@gmail.com

Times that will be available will be slots in the morning (~ 9 to 11 AM ) as well as some slots in the evening ( ~ 7 to 8 PM ).

Thank you for being patient with us through this time of change!

Casual & Supervised Hours

Tฤ“nei ahiahi,

Introducing our new casual/supervised hours & prices!

During the school terms:
9 to 11 AM on Monday to Friday
3:30 to 5:30 PM on Thursday and Friday
1 to 4 pm Saturday & Sunday

During the holidays (except our Christmas & NYE closure):
9 to 11 AM Monday to Friday
1 to 4 PM Monday to Sunday

Our casual prices during these hours are now simplified to:
$ 3 for under 18 year olds
$ 5 for adults

โš ๏ธIf you are coming with a child that is under 5 years old, you have to remain within at least arm distance to this child in the water at all times. You are only paying entry for the child.โš ๏ธ

We have chosen these times and prices to simplify the whole process.

We understand that this way there are no special hours and prices for every single one of you out there, but we think this great value and opportunities to get splashy!

Pool Getting Cozy Warm!

Kia ora koutou,

While the pool water is reaching lava level temperatures, a couple of updates:

1. We are planning to open this Friday the 15th October 2021. This is not a guarantee, nor an official opening announcement. Why so slow? Because:

2. As we are changing the operating model to give you more access and freedom in how you can visit and enjoy the pool, we have to comply with a complete new set of health and safety standards. Yes, this means a bit more paper work that still needs to be approved. Getting there!

3. Additionally, we have to change over all systems (e.g. payments, internet, security access) from ICC to ourselves. This is also connected to the new key access system that allows you more freedom to enjoy the pool. This is, also, almost finished.

4. Once the above paper work and system change over is done, I will be able to open up "booking" times to get you in to sign up for memberships. This means you can come to the pool with whoever will be part of your membership (if it is a family one), sign up, pay, go through a basic health and safety induction - and you are good to go!

Please be patient with us this season while we are changing everything around to make it more accessible for you. This is not necessarily hard for us, but it just requires time.

Looking forward to getting you all into the pool ASAP!

Mobirise

Introducing Our Seasonal Memberships!

Some general information regarding our new memberships that will allow you to access the pool on your own time (from 6 AM to 8:30 PM - excluding scheduled events and sessions).

There will be two options:
1. For all adults -> $80
2. For families (2 adults + any children in the household) -> $160

(Plus $ 20 bond for the access tag)

This is am amazing opportunity that will allow all of us to have more options on how and when to enjoy the pool. I would like to point out that this would equal only $16 per swim for the whole family if you visit 10x in the season.

On your time. When it fits you.

Now, this means that we all have to work together as a community to keep up the standards of the pool.

Entry to the Bluff Pool will be a privilege, not a right.

There are very specific terms and conditions that must be met to become a member of the Bluff Pool. The Bluff Pool has strict rules to protect the health and safety of it's users and staff, and these rules will be strictly enforced. To become a Bluff Pool member there is a requirement to attend an induction where the Ts & Cs and rules will be clearly explained and formal agreement will be required.

We are currently working through the finer details of the rules and will share these widely soon!

New Logo!

This logo has been adopted based on a design by Sienna Whaanga from Bluff. Her original drawing included a description of her thoughts:

"Meaning: The grey is an oyster to represent Bluff. The wave for the pool and the greenish wave can be seen as a mountain, aka Bluff. in the wave there is a person swimming with a red cap which is a bluff colour and the opposite of green on a colour wheel, which makes it stand out and draw your eyes towards the name! ๐Ÿ™‚"

The original drawing as well as Sienna's explanation will be framed together with this adapted logo and available for viewing at the Bluff Swimming Pool.

Introducing Our Manager

Kia ora koutou!

I am proud to introduce myself as the new (and first) Bluff Swimming Pool Manager!

My name is Marcin and I am excited to have a chance to help with leisure and recreation in Bluff. I have spent my last 14 years working, studying and doing research in the area of exercise, recreation and health/wellbeing. Thus, I am super keen on bringing all of that to the pool.

If you have any questions about me, please leave a comment and I will answer!

Please stay tuned while I chip away at all the preparation to get the pool going ASAP.

Within the next couple of days I will announce some general aspects of how we will run the pool this upcoming season.

Thank you,
Aku mihi,
Marcin
